The process includes letters of endorsement from Administrator, Teacher and fellow student; evidence of academic and technical ability; evidence of professional, community or business involvement; statement by the nominee—summarizing qualifications, impact other students and institution, and future career plans. The nominator from the ATEA member college, prepares and submits the nomination packet.

Innovation in Technical Education Award

When the pandemic started in 2020, students were prevented from coming to the labs.  Frank created virtual learning experiences and modified the curriculum, so the students could complete their programs.  He  worked with speed and accuracy which assured quality and continuity for the students.   He was one of the first to volunteer to present in an ATEA "Best Practice Call" on HVAC bringing together instructor from across the nation.


 Innovation in Technical Education Criteria

Supports the Build Dakota Scholarship program by sponsoring students in other programs such as nursing and the trades.

Donated thousands of dollars in equipment including training aids and items to support the corrections courses and the Law Enforcement Academy.

Provides training to faculty and students.

Started pilot program to have internships for students in several programs.
